Year 4- Concert Petruska
On Tuesday 5th June, year 4 visited the Royal Festival Hall to see the London Philharomic Orchestra perform Igor Stravinsky's piece, "Petrushka". We learnt all about how Stravinsky used the different elements of the orchestra to tell the story, as well as showing us the individual personalities of some of the characters.
We also learnt about the huge range of instruments that are in the orchestra, from the delicate flutes and woodwinds, to the deep and thundering timpanis, bassoons, and bass. We all loved this experience as not only did we learn a Russian folk-tale, but we also learnt lots about pitch, timbre, texture, instrumentation, and arrangement!
