HMS Wellington Visit
Year 6 had the opportunity to visit one of the last surviving convoy ships from WWII, the HMS Wellington which is moored on the Thames. The children have been learning about how the war affected Britain and can identify ways in which Britain needed rebuilding. Aboard the ship, the children looked at the history of the ship in helping to secure food imports into the UK in her role as a convoy ship. This help supported their understanding of the need for rationing during wartime.
