Catholic Life/CST
At St Helens Catholic life and teaching our Catholic Social Teaching is extremely important to us. We continue to have an increasingly strong link with our local Parish St Margaret’s and aid in charity work with some organisations such as; CAFOD and HCPT. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to live out our Catholic Social Teaching in all that they do. Whether that be participating in Carol Singing or having an active role in our mission week
Catholic Social Teachings is when we are kind and considerate to our neighbours and we show these through the different catholic social teachings; human dignity, the common good, solidarity, participation, option for the poor, subsidiarity, stewardship, distributing justice and promoting peace. With lots of issues facing our world at the moment such as; hunger, migration, conflict, the environment being destroyed and problems affecting human rights, it is important that we remember how to show our Catholic faith everyday.
Catholic Social teaching is important because it helps us to remember that everyone is unique and beautiful in every way. It also reminds us that the world belongs to everyone and everyone has rights and responsibilities. If everyone put Catholic social teaching into action, the world would be a better place. When Jesus said “they do not need to go away. You give them something to eat” (Matthew 14:16) it shows us how Catholics today should live and how we should be thinking of others.
In St Helens we develop everyday in showing our Catholic Social Teachings by being charitable and donating to CAFOD and other charities. We also try to be good citizens in and out of school, showing the gospel values and our Catholic Social Teachings every single day. Explore this part of the website to see how we put this into action in our school.
