YES! (Youth Ensemble Scheme)

At the beginning of March, our String, Flute and Recorder ensembles had the pleasure of a recital from an innovative contemporary string quartet Modulus Quartet and composer Nicholas de Carlo present The Gagarin Quartets, charting the story of the first human space flight by Yuri Gagarin in 1961.

We listened to Yuri Gagarin’s story of travelling into space and encircling the moon, through music. During this recital we had to engage with an interactive section. We had to help to create what space would sound like. This meant instructing the Quartet on what to play, when to play and even how to play. We were even able to conduct the Quartet. We cannot wait to work with them over the next few months.
