Armistice Day – Thursday 11 November
Our School Council, Head Boys and Girls attended this is a special service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Central Park which is aimed at young people, with children from several Newham schools taking part. At the end of the service, as in previous years, local historian Lee J Skeggs gave a talk to school children and young people.
This year he included a short talk on Walter Tull, who was both a professional footballer player and a soldier during World War One. Walter Tull was fairly local and was the first black officer in World War One. Unfortunately he was killed in the last months of the war.
