Year 4 visit to the Gurdwara temple
The children visited the Gurdwara temple where Sikhs go to worship their God. They learnt that Sikhs believe in only one God, the Creator, and that there are two ways of praising: kneeling down and bowing your head or if you cannot kneel down you just bow and join your hands.
Before going inside we had to take off our shoes and wash our hands, this is because it is a sign of respect and also to avoid making the place dirty.
Pupils learnt about the Guru Grant Sahib which contains all of the teaching of the Gurus, which takes 48 hours to read it all.
At the end of the session, we went to a big room where the Sikhs eat. Here we were given apple juice and orange juice and we shared all equally.
