Army Museum Visit
Years 1 and 6 travelled together to the Army Museum in Chelsea. Pupils then separated into two interactive workshops which linked to year 1's D.T. curriculum and year 6's computing curriculum.
Year 1 pupils designed and built a shelter. They explored how it became stronger and more stable. They also evaluated their ideas against design criteria.
Year 6 completed a programming workshop where they learned how to programme robots. They found ways to: sequence tasks; use logical reasoning to correct errors in algorithms and code; solve problems by decomposing them into smaller parts.; and work with various forms of input and output.
When pupils were finished with their workshops, they had the wonderful opportunity to have some time to explore the museum's highly interactive museum. This provided an excellent stimulus for year 6's WWII history focus.
