Congratulations to our Year 1 and 2 hot potato team who came in 3rd place in one of the first competitions of the year. The children showed great focus and team work to secure their medals. The children spent time training for the event and their dedication paid off!

This half term Key stage 2 prepared an area and planted wildflower seeds in a bid to make St Helen’s a wildlife sanctuary. We would like to thank our partners at Buglife for donating the wildflower seeds and we can’t wait to see what the woodland area looks like next spring.

We have our new student representatives for the new school year. We have new Head Boys and Girls, House Captains, Prefect and a new School Council.

Congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 mixed netball team. They competed against 8 other schools from the local area and came in first place winning the final on sudden death free throws. The team showed incredible resilience and determination out on the pitch. Over the course of the tournament they scored 20 goals and only conceded 5! An incredible effort from the children.

Jonathan was nominated to receive the Brentwood Citizenship Award. Jonathan is a truly exceptional student in Year 2. His natural leadership skills shine through in everything he does, and he consistently demonstrates resilience, dedication to learning, and a genuine commitment to encouraging others. Jonathan’s ability to inspire his peers to do the right thing and work collaboratively speaks to his maturity and sense of responsibility at such a young age.

On Monday the 14th July Key Stage 2 took part in their Sports Day! All the children gave their all, supported their classmates and had a wonderful day. Thank you to children from St Angela’s who supported on the day and congratulations to the St John Bosco team for winning this year!

On Tuesday the 15th July Key stage 1 had their Sports Morning! Children from Reception, year 1 and year 2 had an amazing morning and it was fantastic to see so many parents taking part in the events with the children. A big thank you goes to the children from St Bonaventure’s who assisted on the day with the events and congratulations to the St John Bosco team for winning this year!

On Thursday 19th June St Helen’s took part in the Speed Strike Event. Children from Reception to Year 6 took part and have raised an estimated £1700 for the school! Children had a lot of fun trying to kick the ball as hard as possible. Some classes will even be using the data collected with the speed trap in their maths lessons. We would like to thank Sporting4Schools for the opportunity to take part in the event.

Our annual International Evening was once again a wonderful evening of celebrating. We are so grateful to all the families who brought delicious food for us to share and the children really enjoyed the inflatables. The evening gave us all an opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate our cultures.

Gardening club have been hard at work preparing the vegetable garden! Children are re-seeding, weeding and clearing the beds. We have also planted lots of wild flowers to encourage bees and insects to have a lovely habitat.
