Our Parish & Diocese

St Margaret’s Canning Town
We have extremely strong links with our local parish Church St Margaret's. The children and staff regularly attend Mass every Friday with the rest of our Parish and celebrate Holy Days of Obligation and school celebrations. Our Parish Priest Fr John Armitage regularly attends the school where he leads important events such as our Mission Week and Miriam procession as well as being an active role in our Governing body and coming to support the children in any special performances.

History of St Margaret’s Canning Town
St Margaret’s is actually made up of 2 parishes; The Convent Chapel and St. Margaret of Cortona & All Saints. The Convent Chapel which is where our school regularly frequents was founded in 1897 by the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. The chapel is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and was added onto the Convent in 1931.

St Margaret of Cortona & All Saints was one of the first Catholic churches in Canning town and was opened in 1859. It was initially served from Stratford, a separate mission was founded in 1870 and the present church built in 1875-6 from designs by F. W. Tasker.
